'Square Plate Series'

Recently I begun a series of images that each included a simple square white plate.
I liked the notion of a repeating item linking a group of paintings, the plate is square so the composition has to deal with that issue and the plate is always seen from the top. As other subjects in the paintings are dealt with face on the viewer is confronted with two distinct viewpoints in one, looking at and looking down on, this contrast of viewpoint creates a pictorial tension within the composition that I found interesting to explore.
